MOKOKCHUNG, OCT 1 (NPN): The Health and Family Welfare Department emerged overall champion at the 4th Inter-Departmental Sports Meet 2026, which concluded at the MDBA Indoor Badminton Stadium on Thursday.
The three-day meet saw participation from 38 departments, with nearly 800 athletes competing across eight sporting disciplines, including athletics, table tennis, carrom, futsal, badminton, chess and arm wrestling.
Addressing the closing programme, Commandant, Assam Rifles, Mokokchung, Col. Nagendra Kumar Saraswat, said sports promoted leadership, innovation and the spirit of unity. He congratulated the participants and winners, and stressed that giving one’s best and participating were more important than winning.
He encouraged the participants to remain focused on their assigned responsibilities as they returned to their respective offices.
The Health and Family Welfare Department received the championship trophy, while medals and certificates were presented to individual winners. The School Education Department bagged the Best Discipline Award.
