LJP(RV) seeks role in opposition-less govt

DIMAPUR, OCT 4 (NPN): Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has sought a role in Nagaland’s opposition-less government, stressing that political support should not mean political silence.
In a press note, LJP (RV) national secretary S. Richard Humtsoe said the party, represented by Dr. Sukhato A. Sema and Naiba Konyak in the state Assembly, supported the arrangement in the interest of stability, peace and development.
It said the arrangement should be based on responsibility, accountability and measurable development, and sought clarity on its responsibilities, institutional role and policy implementation mechanisms. It expressed readiness to contribute to food processing, youth employment, investment, infrastructure, Act East initiatives and transparency.
LJP (RV) called for a roadmap focused on results during the Assembly’s remaining tenure. It said an opposition-less NLA could encourage cooperation but could not remove legislators’ responsibility to scrutinise government action. “Opposition-less must never become accountability-less,” it said, stressing that political unity should deliver development, efficiency and measurable results.
