DIMAPUR: Advisor, NSDMA & Inland Waterways, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, graced the Pochury Tribal Festival ‘Yemshe’ held on October 3 at Lephori village.
Addressing the gathering, Nyuthe described Yemshe as the biggest festival of the Pochury Naga community and called upon the people to uphold unity, strengthen relationships and preserve their identity. He said Yemshe is a time when the Pochury people earnestly pray to God for abundant blessings, while also providing an opportunity for introspection, forgiveness and reconciliation. He urged the community to use the occasion to look within, forgive one another and strengthen bonds, stressing that life’s purpose would lose meaning without retrospection and amendment for the common good.
Highlighting the diversity of the Pochury community, Nyuthe said Pochury is a “land of diversity” where differences exist in many aspects, yet the people have stood together as one, representing their collective identity. He further described Pochury as the “land of fortunes,” blessed with abundant minerals and natural resources, and called upon the people to work diligently and responsibly utilise these resources for the district’s development.
Nyuthe also appreciated the sincerity and dedication of Pochury gazetted officers, noting that no complaints had been received against them. He commended their exemplary conduct in public service and urged them to continue rendering their best wherever they are posted.
On preserving Pochury identity, Nyuthe appealed particularly to the younger generation to make greater efforts in learning and developing the Pochury dialect and language. He emphasised that language was a vital component of identity and called for collective efforts towards its preservation and growth.
Concluding his address, Nyuthe urged the Pochury people to remain united, preserve their cultural and linguistic heritage, responsibly utilise their God given resources and work collectively for the progress and development of the community.
