NSUB hosts 57th Freshers’ Meet-cum-Nagas’ Night

The Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB) hosted its 57th Freshers’ Meet-cum-Nagas’ Night on October 2 at the auditorium of Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, under the theme “A Legacy to Carry, a Future to Create.”
The annual event, one of NSUB’s most cherished traditions, was organized to welcome new students and working professionals into the Naga community in Bengaluru while celebrating the rich cultural heritage, unity and diversity of the Naga people. More than 2,000 students, dignitaries and well-wishers attended the programme, making it one of the largest gatherings of Nagas in the city this year.
Adding vibrancy to the celebration was a special performance by acclaimed Naga artist KL Pamei, whose songs resonated with themes of identity, resilience and cultural pride. The evening also featured a variety of cultural presentations and artistic performances showcasing the diverse traditions of the Naga community.
A major highlight of the programme was the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Fresher NSUB 2026. Shisalong Jamir of the Ao community was declared Mr. Fresher, while Khoziia Kashipri of the Mao community was crowned Miss Fresher. Kashipri also won the title of Miss Popularity, while Ganguanglung Kamei of the Zeliangrong community was named Mr. Popularity.
Delivering the presidential address, Sheyini reflected on the union’s 57-year legacy and paid tribute to the vision and dedication of its founding members and successive generations of leaders. Emphasizing the importance of community service and responsibility, she urged the younger generation to learn from their predecessors and use their opportunities to give back to society.
The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Losii Dikho, as the chief guest, while Professor at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru, Dr. Loung Nathan K. K. attended as the guest speaker. Both speakers highlighted the importance of leadership, vision, service and cultural identity, encouraging young Nagas to remain connected to their roots while contributing positively to society.
The programme concluded on a celebratory note, reaffirming NSUB’s commitment to fostering fellowship, preserving cultural identity and empowering future generations of Nagas living and studying in Bengaluru.
