KOHIMA, OCT 5 (NPN): Nagaland’s Kevin Puro emerged champion in Class 7 (Thar Open Category) in the Adventure TSD (Time, Speed and Distance) category at the 6th JK Tyre Rally of the Himalayas 2026, held from September 26 to 30 across the challenging high-altitude terrains of Lahaul-Spiti and Zanskar Valley, Ladakh.
Representing the Nagaland Adventure Club, Puro secured the top position in his class in one of India’s demanding motorsport events, which tested competitors on endurance, navigation, precision and driving skills across difficult Himalayan terrain.
His victory added to a strong showing by competitors from Nagaland and other Northeastern states at the rally.
Khenglubo Newmai (Along Aria) competing for the Adventure and Motor Sports Association (AMAM), Mokokchung, secured first position in the Amateur CL2 Class in the Adventure TSD category.
Meghalaya’s Aneesh Sangma of the Tura Motor Sports Club finished first in Class X3 (Extreme) and fifth overall in the Extreme category. Nagaland Adventure and Motor Sports Association competitors Along Aier and Vikishe Shohe secured fifth position in Class X3 (Extreme), while Phoebe Dale Nongrum of the Meghalaya Motor Sports Society finished fourth in the same class.
The results highlighted the competitive presence of motorsport participants from the Northeast at the Himalayan rally, with representatives from Nagaland and Meghalaya securing positions across both the Adventure TSD and Extreme categories.
The Nagaland Adventure Club congratulated Puro for his Class 7 victory and commended the achievements of all the Northeastern participants.
The club said Puro’s achievement was a matter of pride for Nagaland Adventure Club, Nagaland and the wider motorsports fraternity of Northeast India. It also extended congratulations to all participants, wishing them continued success, safety and further victories in their future endeavours.
