KOHIMA, OCT 6 (NPN): A Girl Guide Memorial Building of the Bharat Scouts and Guides was inaugurated at the State Training Centre (STC), Nerhema on October 6 in the presence of Nini Meru, life member and first vice patron of the Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG).
Addressing the gathering, Meru highlighted the Scouts and Guides motto, “Be Prepared,” and urged students to be ready to face life’s challenges. She reminded them that training in Scouting and Guiding was not merely a game but preparation for real life situations, encouraging them to use their learning to overcome both opportunities and difficulties. Meru also stressed the importance of making the right choices in life, urging students to be prepared not only for life but also for eternity.
Speaking to Nagaland Post after the programme, former state commissioner (Guide) Nino Iralu informed that Nagaland has around 5,000 Scouts and Guides members, though Tseminyu district has yet to enroll. She said members follow the principle of doing good deeds daily and, in keeping with the motto “Be Prepared,” pledge to do their best in duty to God and country. She added that the movement was international, with its central aim being to help others at all times.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by state commissioner (Guide), Yanpolumi Humtsoe, while the welcome and keynote address was delivered by state organising commissioner (G), Vimezhonu Tetso. The building report was presented by vice patron and convener of the building committee, Nancy Kikon, and the vote of thanks was proposed by state chief commissioner, Chubanungla.
The event also featured a birthday celebration for one of the senior most guide captains, V. Bano Sakhrie, who turned 92.
