DIMAPUR: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) reaffirmed its commitment to community development in Nagaland by handing over a newly extended first-floor classroom facility at Government Primary School, Kevijau Colony, Dimapur, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
According to a DIPR report, the classroom extension project was undertaken to improve educational infrastructure and create a better learning environment for students. Speaking at the programme, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, appreciated IOCL for its continued contribution to Nagaland through initiatives in education, healthcare and community infrastructure.
Chang highlighted the corporation’s significant role in supporting developmental activities across the state and expressed hope for continued cooperation in sectors benefiting the public. He also acknowledged the support extended by the residents of Kevijau Colony and assured that public welfare requirements would continue to be placed before the corporation for consideration under its CSR programmes.
Executive Director and State Head, IOAODSO, Nitin Bhatnagar, said the project was conceived following discussions on development needs in Kevijau Colony nearly two years ago. He expressed satisfaction that the facility had been successfully completed and handed over to the school. Bhatnagar emphasized that IOCL, which operates key facilities such as a depot and LPG plant in Dimapur, remains committed to giving back to society through programmes related to education, healthcare, infrastructure development, women’s empowerment and livelihood promotion. Reiterating the corporation’s “Nation First” philosophy, he assured continued support for developmental initiatives in Nagaland.
IOCL hands over 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri Village
In another CSR initiative, IOCL handed over 40 solar lights to Padum Pukhuri village in Dimapur to improve community infrastructure and promote sustainable development.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang described Padum Pukhuri as one of the best-performing colonies in Dimapur and encouraged residents to make effective use of opportunities available under CSR programmes. He stressed the importance of maintaining the solar lighting system to ensure long-term benefits for the community.
DGM (Operations), IOAODSO, Guwahati, Dipak Pathak, informed that the solar lighting project was valued at approximately Rs. 40 lakh and required minimal maintenance. Urging beneficiaries to take ownership of the assets, he emphasized that proper care would ensure the project’s longevity and effectiveness.
The solar lights are expected to enhance lighting facilities, improve public safety and contribute to sustainable infrastructure development in the village. The initiative reflects IOCL’s ongoing commitment to supporting community welfare and development across Nagaland through its CSR programmes.
