DIMAPUR, OCT 9 (NPN): Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) has urged the Commissioner of Nagaland to constitute an independent, high-level inquiry into allegations and grievances concerning deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire.
In a representation, SASU president Muwali T Sangtam and general secretary Vitsala S Sangtam referred to a complaint submitted by T Likhumse Sangtam and Tsathrise Rudy on October 1, 2026, which the commissioner’s office reportedly acknowledged on October 5.
SASU said the seriousness of the issues warranted an independent and impartial inquiry, warning that the allegations, if established, could have significant implications for administrative accountability, public confidence and the welfare of Kiphire district.
The union urged the commissioner to immediately constitute a high-level inquiry committee and ensure that the investigation was transparent, time-bound and free from conflicts of interest.
It also called for appropriate administrative or disciplinary action under the law and applicable service rules if the allegations were substantiated.
Emphasising that its demand was made in the larger public interest, SASU clarified that it was not prejudging the guilt or innocence of any individual. However, it cautioned that continued delay or inaction could further erode public confidence in the district administration.
The union appealed to the commissioner to initiate the inquiry without further delay and communicate the action taken at the earliest.
