CCYO launches second phase of indefinite agitation

DIMAPUR, OCT 12 (NPN): The Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) on Monday launched the second phase of its indefinite agitation by picketing three Forest department offices in Phek district over the government’s failure to address its demands concerning the detention of Vezhoto Hesuh.
The peaceful picketing was held at the Divisional Forest Officer’s (DFO) office in Phek and Forest Range Offices in Phek and Pfutsero.
CCYO had said that the agitation was also aimed at securing due respect for the customary rights, traditions and institutions of the Chakhesang people. It appealed to participants and concerned citizens to maintain peace, discipline and dignity during the agitation.
The organisation said its non-cooperation movement against the Forest department, including its continued position of non-operation and non-enforcement of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, in the area, would continue until its demands were addressed and fulfilled.
