DIMAPUR, OCT 13 (NPN): The Wokha Athletics Association will organise the Wokha District Junior Athletics Meet 2026 at the Public Ground, Wokha, on October 15. The meet will also serve as a district-level selection platform to identify promising junior athletes for the National Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) 2026.
The competition will feature boys and girls in the Under-14 and Under-16 categories. Under-14 events will include Triathlon, Triathlon A and Triathlon C, while the Under-16 category will feature the 60m and 600m races, javelin throw and long jump. The javelin events will comprise a 10-metre approach, with 600g javelins for boys and 500g for girls.
Eligible athletes from Wokha district may participate in the meet. For the Under-14 category, participants must have been born between November 17, 2012, and November 16, 2014, while Under-16 participants must have been born between November 17, 2010 and November 16, 2012. Athletes must be at least 12 years old as of November 16, 2026, and an Aadhaar card is mandatory for registration.
Reporting for the meet will begin at 8 am, with a registration fee of Rs. 100 per athlete. Outstanding performers will be shortlisted to represent the district at NIDJAM 2026, scheduled to be held from November 14 to 16 at Woxsen University, Kamkole, Sadasivpet, Hyderabad, Telangana.
