Kohima, Oct 14 (NPN): Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD), Kudecho Khamo, convened a coordination meeting with CAWD officials at the department’s conference hall in Kohima on Wednesday.
Welcoming the posting of newly appointed Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE), Er. Ketuoselie Kenguruse, Khamo highlighted the close interconnection between engineers and administrative officers, stressing the need for mutual understanding and cooperation. He reminded officials that their work was a responsibility entrusted by God and urged engineers, irrespective of position, to carry out their duties sincerely in service to the people and the government.
He said elected representatives and government officials had different roles but shared the responsibility of serving the public, calling upon officers to discharge their duties with dedication, positivity and joy.
Pointing to Nagaland’s extensive administrative network across 17 districts, Khamo acknowledged the difficult working and living conditions faced by officers, particularly the lack of adequate infrastructure and residential facilities. He said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, was working to gradually improve these facilities to enable officers to serve with dignity.
Khamo also commended officers who continued to maintain facilities with limited resources, sometimes even spending from their own pockets to ensure uninterrupted public service. He stressed that both officials and citizens had a collective responsibility to protect and maintain government property. Underscoring the importance of timely preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), he said infrastructure development must keep pace with the requirements of the state’s administrative machinery. He further expressed concern over landowners obstructing government projects despite having handed over land after receiving compensation and employment benefits, describing such practices as morally wrong and detrimental to development.
Calling for collective effort and coordination, Khamo urged CAWD officials to fulfil their responsibilities to improve public service delivery and support infrastructure development across the state.
Earlier, Vekhoyi Chakhesang, Deputy Commissioner from the Office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, welcomed the new ACE and emphasised the need to address the requirements of administrative officers posted in districts. The meeting was led by ACE Er. Ketuoselie Kenguruse, during which engineers shared updates and reviewed progress of ongoing projects.
