DIMAPUR, OCT 17 (NPN): Ao Senden has rejected the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare’s (DHFW) reply to its ultimatum over the shortage of a specialist radiologist at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung, and warned that it would take its own course of action from October 21, 2026.
In a letter to the principal director, DHFW, through the chief medical officer, Mokokchung, Ao Senden vice president Ao Wati and general secretary Imtipokyim rejected “in toto” the reasons stated in the department’s reply dated October 15, 2026.
Ao Senden stated that a senior specialist radiologist was transferred from IMDH to NHAK under an August 19 notification, while a junior specialist radiologist from District Hospital Phek was transferred to IMDH. Despite its August 24 request not to release the senior specialist until his replacement joined IMDH, he was released following a DHFW directive dated September 7, 2026.
The Senden clarified that a sonologist was not what it had demanded, maintaining that “nothing short of a Radiodiagnosis Specialist” would be accepted at IMDH. It said none of the demands in its September 16 ultimatum had been met till date and accused the department of displaying superiority instead of serving those in need, describing this as deplorable and contrary to its purpose of providing healthcare.
Ao Senden warned that the department would be held solely responsible for any untoward incident during its course of action from October 21.
