MOKOKCHUNG, OCT 21 (NPN): Ao Senden has launched the first phase of its agitation by indefinitely closing the office of the chief medical officer (CMO) Mokokchung over the non-fulfilment of its demands concerning Dr.Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH).
The move follows an ultimatum issued by Ao Senden on September 16, 2026, to the principal director of health and family welfare (H&FW), through the CMO Mokokchung, seeking action on three demands: the replacement posting of a radiologist and a dermatologist at IMDH; shifting hospital services to the newly constructed Block A; and cancellation of all attachments of doctors and nurses, with their reversion to IMDH.
Speaking to Nagaland Post over the phone, Ao Senden general secretary Imtipokyim said the organisation had proceeded with the agitation in accordance with the ultimatum served on the department on September 16.
He said the Senden had rejected the response received from the department, prompting it to seal the CMO office gates on Tuesday morning.
Imtipokyim confirmed that the office would remain closed until the department fulfilled the demands, adding that the agitation would continue indefinitely until the issues were addressed.
Officials of Ao Senden were assisted by volunteers from Ao Lanur Telongjem (ALT) during the agitation.
