Defying bad weather condition large gathering turned out to participate in the colorful 62nd Independence Day celebration at Kiphire. Chief guest Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Commerce, Dr. K. C. Nihoshe who unfurled the national tri-colour flag at Kiphire district headquarters inspected the parade contingents and after his ceremonial speech, took salute of the march past contingents which comprised of Nagaland police and village guard personnel, school and college students.
Besides presenting District Awards to Dobashis and police personnel he also gave away certificates to Taekwon-do students of the district who excelled in the recently held state level taekwon-do tournament. Students of Kiphire District Taekwon-do Association (KDTA) presented martial art demonstration; Leochum V. presented a special number. Students of Loyala Higher Secondary School presented a folk song.
Among others, important dignitaries who accompanied the chief were, Chairperson of Dimapur Municipal Council, Khekaho Assumi and Member of Zunheboto Town Council, G. Kiba, President of NPF Youth, Dimapur, Kasheto Yeptho and Sr. Engineer (I&FC), Kughaho Chophy.
ABOI: Aboi town, Mon with the rest of the country celebrated Independence Day with great warmth and a massive turn out. Parliamentary secretary for geology and mining, irrigation and border affairs, Y. Patton, took salute as chief guest.
Altogether thirteen contingents took part in the march past which included DEF, NAP and various school children, stated BJP vice president and spokesman, T L Merry in a release stated. Other highlights of the celebration included folk dances, songs, drills, motorcycle stun and skill displays from the children while NGOs and mela personnel entertained the gathering.
NAGINIMORA: Demonstrating the true spirit of independence, the people of Naginimora under Mokokchung district celebrated the Independence Day on August 15. Er. Wochum Kithan, parliamentary secretary for Prisons. Home guards, Fire and Emergency Services took the salute as the chief guest. The day saw good participation from all walks of life including the civil administration and the general public.
TBUZ: Town Business Union Zunheboto (TBUZ) on the auspicious India’s Independence Day visited Civil Hospital Zunheboto and donated financial assistance and offered prayers for all the patients. In a release the ZTBU expressed gratitude to the business community for their help and support.

Leo Club of Dimapur celebrated Independence Day with parent club by hoisting the national flag early at 9.30 am on August 15th at Leo Park Lions centre. PRO, Sangit Jain, Leo Club in a release said the member’s latter visited Deaf & Dumb School and distributed food stuff to all the student of the school. The Club Members also visited to Asha Bhawan at Chumukdima, and distributed some food items to Asha Bhawan. The whole project done under the chairmanship of Leo Manku jain.
