DIMAPUR, OCT 25 (NPN): Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has welcomed the recent peace talks between Ang Mai led-NSCN (K) delegation and Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), held in Nay Pyi Taw on October 22, 2026, and urged the Government of India and the Ang Mai faction to initiate a similar ceasefire.
In a press release, CNTC media cell said the council had consistently maintained that peaceful engagement, mutual understanding and cessation of hostilities were essential for long-term stability and socio-economic progress across Naga-inhabited areas.
In light of the developments in Myanmar, CNTC appealed to the Centre and NSCN-K (AM) leadership to enter into a formal ceasefire agreement, stating that an official truce would be a significant step towards regional harmony, ending armed confrontation and creating an inclusive environment for political reconciliation. The council observed that decades of conflict had placed an enormous strain on border communities, hindering infrastructure development, trade and public welfare.
CNTC maintained that lasting peace could not be achieved in isolation and that true stability required bringing all active groups into constructive dialogue.
Reiterating its commitment to supporting genuine peace initiatives, the council urged New Delhi and the NSCN-K (AM) leadership to exercise political foresight and initiate a ceasefire in the greater interest of the Naga people.
