DIMAPUR: Assam Rifles organised a two-day drone training capsule for NCC girl cadets and conducted a cleanliness drive at Patkai Christian College as part of its ongoing efforts to promote skill development, technological awareness and community welfare in Nagaland.
According to a press release, 26 NCC girl cadets participated in the drone training programme held at the IGAR (North) Drone Training Node, Jalukie, Peren district, from October 23 to 24. The programme was aimed at familiarising the cadets with emerging drone technologies and providing practical exposure to drone operations, safety protocols and technical skills.
On the first day, participants were introduced to different types of drones, their components, applications, flight controls and safety measures. The cadets also underwent simulator-based training to understand basic flying techniques and manoeuvres. As part of the programme, they visited the drone workshop to learn about drone assembly, maintenance and components, besides gaining insights into manufacturing processes at a 3D printing laboratory.
The second day featured outdoor drone demonstrations, where the cadets observed take-off, hovering, manoeuvring and landing procedures. They were also familiarised with operational protocols, flight safety measures and the responsibilities of drone operators. An interactive session provided an opportunity to discuss emerging technological developments, career prospects and the growing applications of drone technology.
In a separate initiative under Special Campaign 6.0, Assam Rifles conducted a cleanliness drive at Patkai Christian College on October 24 to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness and community participation.
The drive aimed to sensitise students on the importance of maintaining clean and hygienic surroundings and adopting responsible environmental practices. Participants were encouraged to recognise their role in ensuring sanitation, preventing littering and preserving public spaces.
Assam Rifles stated that such initiatives help instil discipline, civic responsibility and environmental consciousness among the younger generation. The campaign also aligns with the objectives of Special Campaign 6.0, which focuses on institutionalising cleanliness, improving workplace management and promoting efficiency and accountability.
The force said it would continue to undertake community outreach programmes across Nagaland as part of its commitment to community welfare, environmental protection and nation-building.
