JCF seeks clarity on DMC Sunday opening directive

DIMAPUR, OCT 27 (NPN): Joint Council Forum (JCF), comprising Middle Point, Churches Colony, NST Colony, Nyamo Lotha Colony and Khermahal Area councils, has sought clarification from the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on whether its latest directive permits all businesses to open after 12 noon on Sundays.
In a press release, JCF asked whether the permission applied to all establishments or remained restricted to categories covered under earlier directives, including medical stores, fuel stations, eateries, hotels, bakeries and businesses dealing in perishable goods. The forum reiterated its stand that businesses within its jurisdiction should open only after 12 noon on Sundays, allowing employees half-day rest and local workers to attend church services while respecting Christian faith and religious sentiments.
JCF said a clear clarification from DMC would ensure common understanding among business owners, councils and the public, facilitating transparent and uniform implementation of the directive.
