DIMAPUR, OCT 29 (NPN): Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) peace committee has welcomed the October 22, 2026 peace initiative between the NSCN-K (Ang Mai-Mulatonu) group and Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) in Nay Pyi Taw, and urged the Government of India and the NSCN-K (AM) leadership to enter into a formal ceasefire and initiate structured peace talks.
In a press release, NGBF committee said the meeting was an encouraging step towards dialogue, reconciliation and lasting peace in the region.
The committee said it had consistently appealed to the Government of India to declare a ceasefire and initiate peaceful dialogue with the NSCN-K (AM) group. It said the recent initiative in Myanmar reinforced the view that longstanding differences could be resolved through mutual understanding, constructive engagement and peaceful negotiations.
NGBF urged both sides to demonstrate sincerity, political will and commitment to peaceful engagement, stating that a formal ceasefire could help reduce hostilities, build mutual trust and create an environment conducive to meaningful political dialogue.
The federation said peace was a collective responsibility and that genuine efforts towards reconciliation deserved encouragement and support.
It expressed hope that the development would inspire further peace initiatives and contribute to lasting harmony, stability and security in Naga-inhabited areas for future generations.
