SIR observer reviews electoral rolls in Zbto

DIMAPUR: Commissioner & Secretary, School Education and SCERT, and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) observer for Zunheboto district, Asangla Imti, has called upon political parties and election officials to work in close coordination to ensure clean, accurate and error-free electoral rolls.
According to a DIPR report, she made the appeal during an interactive meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Zunheboto, on October 27.
The meeting was attended by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and representatives of recognised political parties.
Addressing the gathering, Asangla underscored the importance of the Special Intensive Revision exercise in strengthening the integrity of the electoral process.
She said an accurate electoral roll formed the foundation of free and fair elections and urged political parties to actively participate in the revision exercise while coordinating closely with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to identify and rectify discrepancies.
Stressing cooperation and shared responsibility, she encouraged political parties and election officials to work constructively towards the common goal of maintaining accurate electoral rolls rather than engaging in blame-shifting. She said the success of the exercise depended on effective coordination, transparency and active participation from all stakeholders.
During the interactive session, the SIR observer sought feedback from EROs regarding objections, additions and deletions in the electoral rolls and urged them to address all issues diligently.
She also encouraged election officials to view the exercise not as a burden but as an important responsibility requiring commitment, dedication and enthusiasm.
Further, Asangla called upon AEROs to provide proper guidance and support to EROs across the district to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the revision process.
She urged officials to adopt a proactive approach and explore practical solutions to challenges associated with preparing a clean and comprehensive electoral roll.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Dharam Raj, welcomed the SIR observer and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between election officials and political parties for the successful conduct of the revision exercise.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of collective participation, institutional coordination and accountability in safeguarding the integrity of electoral rolls and strengthening the credibility of the electoral process in Zunheboto district.
