Kohima, OCT 30 (NPN): Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD), Kudecho Khamo, on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Office Complex at Tamlu under Longleng district in the presence of MLA of 49 Tamlu Assembly Constituency, B. Bangtick Phom.
Addressing the inaugural programme, Khamo underscored the importance of self-reliance through the effective utilisation of Nagaland’s natural resources, skilled manpower and human potential. He urged administrative officers and government employees to serve with sincerity and dedication and said welfare schemes and development programmes should reach even the remotest parts of the state. He emphasised that public servants must remain committed to empowering the people and ensuring inclusive development.
Acknowledging the support of the people of Tamlu, Khamo said the construction of the ADC Office Complex was made possible through collective efforts and cooperation. He also appreciated Tamlu and Kangching villages for providing land for the development and upgradation of the Tamlu sub-division.
Describing the office complex as a significant infrastructure project undertaken by CAWD, Khamo assured that the government remained committed to carrying forward developmental activities while urging citizens to actively support such initiatives.
On the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), Khamo said the legislation, passed by the NLA under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, had subsequently received Presidential assent. He said the arrangement would empower the people of Eastern Nagaland to play a greater role in planning and implementing developmental programmes in the region.
He appealed to the people under the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) to remain united and work collectively to realise the vision of the FNTA. Khamo also commended B. Bangtick Phom for his efforts towards the welfare and development of the constituency and lauded the contractor for successfully completing the long-awaited project.
Highlighting the issue of encroachment on government land, he acknowledged the contributions of landowners who had donated land for developmental projects. However, he remarked that reclaiming land voluntarily donated for public purposes was morally wrong and traditionally considered taboo.
Speaking on the occasion, Bangtick Phom described the ADC Office Complex as one of the most anticipated projects in the sub-division. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and Khamo for supporting the aspirations of the people and appreciated the contractor for completing the project on schedule.
Phom informed that several developmental projects were currently underway in Tamlu and disclosed that additional infrastructure, including a Community Health Centre (CHC), was in the pipeline. He appealed to the public to continue extending their cooperation in supporting the government’s development initiatives. Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, W. Manpai, termed the inauguration a “red-letter day” for Tamlu sub-division, saying the long-cherished aspirations of the people had finally been fulfilled.
Presenting the technical report, Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE), Ketousielie Kenguruse, informed that the project was conceived to provide permanent office accommodation for departments operating from rented premises and to improve public service delivery.
He said the ground-plus-one RCC structure, with a built-up area of 10,216 sq. ft., was constructed between August 2023 and August 2026.
The programme was chaired by ADC Tamlu T. Lankonsen Tsanglao, who also delivered the welcome address.
Later, Khamo, Bangtick Phom and CAWD officials inspected the ongoing construction of the ADC official quarter at Tamlu. The team also visited the Border Magistrate Rest House and the proposed site for the EAC headquarters at Yonglok under Longleng district before inspecting various infrastructure projects in Mon district.
