KOHIMA, OCT 30 (NPN): Vuto Hyundai on Friday launched the Hyundai Bayon at its showroom in Kohima, with Methaneilie Jütakhrie attending the programme as the guest of honour. Seyievinuo Chüzho and Rovi Metha were the special invitees.
The new Hyundai Bayon derives its name from the French city of Bayonne, reflecting its vibrant energy, distinct character, dynamic spirit and outdoor lifestyle. The naming follows Hyundai’s global strategy of naming its SUVs after prominent geographical locations and travel destinations.
Positioned between the Hyundai Venue and Creta, the Bayon is an intelligent utility vehicle designed to combine performance, technology, safety and comfort. It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 115 PS of power and 143.8 Nm of maximum torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission and Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
Built on Hyundai’s Global K-Enhanced platform, the Bayon has been engineered to meet Indian safety standards. It comes with more than 35 standard safety features and 80 advanced safety features.
Among its key highlights is a segment-first generative AI voice assistant powered by Perplexity and SoundHound. The vehicle is also equipped with Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), highway driving intelligence, 12 parking sensors and three radars. Additional features include over-the-air updates for 19 controllers and more than 70 Bluelink connected-car features.
In terms of exterior design, the Bayon features a sculpted bonnet, signature H-edge LED daytime running lights, high-intensity dual LED projector headlamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and geometric wheel arches.
The interior features a dual curved panoramic display comprising a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 13.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a Bose premium eight-speaker sound system, cascading centre console, panoramic sunroof and dual-tone interior. It also offers two-step reclining seats, along with ample headroom and legroom for passenger comfort.
The vehicle has a ground clearance of 205 mm. At the rear, it features signature H-edge tail lamps, a spread-type emblem, sporty spoiler and an Aerolight high-mounted stop lamp. It also offers a boot capacity of 505 litres.
The Hyundai Bayon is available in seven variants and six monotone colour options, including Fiery Red, Atlas White, Ecotronic Grey, Golden Bronze, Titanium Black and Classy Blue. The model starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 9,99,900.
The programme was compered by Viphretounuo Ciesotsu, while the invocation was pronounced by associate pastor, Lerie Baptist Church Medovituo Savino.
