DIMAPUR, NOV 2 (NPN): The Home department has notified a State-wide mass social work on November 13 (Friday), from 6 am onwards, to ensure cleanliness, hygiene and beautification of public places and surrounding areas ahead of the festive season and Hornbill Festival.
According to a DIPR release, deputy commissioners of all districts will be overall in-charge of the programme and take necessary measures for its effective implementation. They will prepare location-wise work plans and assign responsibilities to government departments, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), village authorities and other concerned organisations.
Departments and agencies assigned designated locations will arrange manpower and disposal trucks to clear collected debris and waste in coordination with the district administration and ULBs.
Municipal and Town Councils, through their respective councillors and in coordination with the district administration, will supervise the social work in urban areas and ensure maximum public participation. Village Councils will organise the exercise in villages and rural areas in coordination with local administrative officers.
All shops and business establishments across the State will remain closed until 12 noon on November 13 to facilitate the programme. Necessary orders will be issued by the respective local authorities.
