DIMAPUR, NOV 3 (NPN): Western Sümi Hoho (WSH) and Western Sümi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) have expressed wholehearted support for the recent peace talks between Ang Mai-led NSCN (K) delegation and Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) in Nay Pyi Taw on October 22, 2026.
Aligning with the sentiments of regional bodies, they urged the Government of India and the NSCN-K (AM) leadership to initiate a similar formal ceasefire.
WSH and WSKH said a formal ceasefire and cessation of hostilities were essential for long-term stability and socio-economic progress across all Naga-inhabited areas.
They stressed that the need for a truce was greater than ever, as decades of conflict had placed enormous strain on border communities, hindering vital infrastructure development, trade and public welfare.
They said inclusive dialogue was essential for lasting peace, which could not be achieved in isolation, and that true stability required all active groups to engage in constructive dialogue.
WSH and WSKH appealed to New Delhi and NSCN-K (AM) leadership to exercise political foresight and enter into a formal ceasefire agreement. They said an official truce would be a significant step towards regional harmony by ending armed confrontation and fostering an inclusive environment for political reconciliation.
They reiterated their commitment to supporting genuine peace initiatives and urged both leaderships to act in the greater interest of the Naga people.
