NBSE conducts orientationon Holistic Progress Card

DIMAPUR: Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) conducted a one-day orientation programme on the Holistic Progress Card (Secondary Stage) in two phases on October 28 at Greenwood School, Kuda Village, Dimapur, and on October 30 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma, Kohima.
The programme was organised under the guidance of PARAKH, NCERT, ahead of the introduction of the Holistic Progress Card in all registered schools from the academic session commencing in January 2027.
Teachers representing registered schools from all 17 districts of the state attended the programme, with one Class IX teacher from each school participating. The welcome address was delivered by NBSE chairperson, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe. The keynote address was delivered virtually by Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, CEO and Head of PARAKH, the National Assessment Centre under NCERT. Resource persons from PARAKH, NCERT conducted the sessions at Dimapur, while officials of the Board led the sessions at Jotsoma.
The Holistic Progress Card is a national assessment instrument developed by PARAKH under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to assess learners’ progress and development.
Unlike conventional examinations that evaluate students at a single point in time, the card records a learner’s progress throughout the year and incorporates the learner’s self-reflection and peer feedback alongside the teacher’s assessment.
Each activity on the card is assessed against three competencies-Awareness, Sensitivity and Creativity-at three levels: Beginner, Proficient and Advanced.
The orientation programme covered Parts A to F of the card and the official guidelines for filling it. Teachers also undertook practical exercises, including preparation of a mock student profile and participation in a mock parent-teacher interaction.
Participants were provided with a compendium of the day’s activities containing worked examples, a roadmap for the implementation year aligned with the Board’s academic calendar, and a reference poster for staff rooms.
Following the orientation, participants will train other secondary-level teachers in their respective schools. Schools have also been directed to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) to the Board by December 15, 2026.
Video tutorials on filling the card are available on the official NBSE YouTube channel, while the resource materials used during the orientation have been uploaded to the Board’s portal.
The Holistic Progress Card will be introduced for Class IX from the 2027 academic session and extended to Class X in 2028.
