Dimapur: Livingstone Foundation Group of Institutions (LFGI), comprising Livingstone Foundation International, Livingstone Foundation College and Livingstone Foundation College of Nursing, has undertaken a coordinated expedition to scale six of Nagaland’s highest mountain peaks simultaneously, in what the institution described as an unprecedented achievement.
According to a press release, the expedition, conceptualised by LFGI chairman, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, and director, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi, was held under the theme, ‘Beyond the Peak – Discovering Strength Within’. It aimed to promote peace, unity and prosperity in Nagaland and the Northeast.
The expedition involved six teams comprising students and staff of LFGI, with the chairman and director also joining the teams on the ground. The teams scaled Mt. Saramati in Kiphire district, Mt. Khelia King in Noklak district, Mt. Mol Len in Meluri district, Mt. Japfü in Kohima district, Mt. Pauna in Peren district and Mt. Kapamoudzü in Phek district.
According to LFGI, the teams navigated dense forests, narrow trails and steep inclines during the expedition, demonstrating endurance and determination.
A notable observation was made by Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema during the climb to Mt. Khelia King, where he noted an abundance of rhododendron trees. He observed that the growth could be among the densest and largest rhododendron stretches in the state.
Beyond the institutional achievement, the expedition also sought to promote sustainable eco-tourism by showcasing Nagaland’s mountain landscapes and encouraging domestic and international visitors to explore destinations in the state’s interior alongside established tourist circuits.
