Marking the parting social cum release of magazine of the Kohima Law College at Hotel Japfü, IPS ADGP (Adm), K. Kire on Tuesday said that law was a noble profession which protects the fundamental rights of every citizen. He stated that the students must work with a conscience and be sensible in taking their decisions.
Encouraging the graduate students to work hard and keep in constant touch with their law books, Kire said that the students must acquire a good background of law to support their cases and shine amongst others.
Principal of Kohima Law College, Akang Ao urged the out going students to be quipped with all the different kinds of law, stating “the knowledge of legal studies is ever growing.” He added that one should work hard, pick up the right skills and excel. He further asked the students to take the fact as a challenge that law was not a commercial profession, but a profession to save lives especially the destitute and the downtrodden.
K. Kire formally released the college annual magazine 2008 “Fusion”. Fusion came about with an essential aim to convey the note that customary law and statutory law are mutually complimentary, as seen in the applicability of both the laws in Nagaland. The convenor of the magazine committee, Tongpang L. Jamir noted that the fusion of both the laws would bring about ultimate justice.
A total of 44 students graduated from the college. The programme was also marked by speeches by Apen Ngullie and Sentiyanger, president KLCSU, songs presented by the students, welcome address by Hopongkiu, general secretary of KLCSU, and vote of thanks by Kivika N. Chishi. The programme was chaired by Rokovi and Sentienla.
