Union Government, through Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD), has allocated a Rs. 5718 .30 lakhs to Nagaland State during 2008-09 under Sarva Shikha Abhiyan (SSA). According to a PIB release, the Ministry has already released Rs. 1149 lakhs till August 8 to the state. The total amount of money earmarked for the Northeast states stood at Rs. 122957.212 lakhs out of which Rs 16295.04 lakhs had already been release to the states. Among the northeastern states, Assam has the largest share with Rs. 61954.12 lakhs, followed by Arunachal Pradesh Rs. 18133.3 lakhs, Meghalaya Rs. 16613.49 lakhs, Tripura Rs. 7468.89 lakhs, Mizoram Rs. 6739.18 lakhs, Nagaland Rs. 5718 .30 lakhs, Manipur Rs. 3929.68 lakhs and Sikkim Rs. 2400.22 lakhs.
