Departments asked to review rules

In order to improve the capacity of the government delivery system and as an essential exercise during the Year of the Capacity Building 2008-09, all Departments are to review the Rules and Regulations governing their activities and also draft other procedures and norms to be adopted in their functioning. This was decided during the meeting of the High Power Committee on Capacity Building headed by the Chief Minister, Nagaland held on July 29.
An official release informed, accordingly the Departments are directed to set up committees in the Department for drawing up such rules and procedures concerning the functioning of the Departments. The Departments may also examine where legislation and enactment of laws are required to strengthen such system and the same may be placed before the Assembly during the Year of the Capacity Building.
In a letter to all Administrative Heads, Heads of Departments, State Empowered Committee and Task Force members, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Alemtemshi Jamir has stated that actions taken by the Departments should be intimated to the Planning Department for the review of the Task Force and the High Power Committee.
