Congress refutes news item
DIMAPUR: District Mahila Congress Committee (DMCC) has refuted the article that appeared under the caption ‘DMC Cong Mahila Youth displeased over ticket issue’ and clarified ‘no persons by the names as mentioned’ existed.
Requesting readers not to be misled by ‘some persons trying to gain cheap political mileage’, a joint release issued by Ayangla president and Asangla general secretary, DMCC stated the claims are by ‘some fictitious persons’ as the names mentioned are not registered in the congress party under ward no 13 of Dimapur Municipal Council.
Meanwhile, Congress Party workers of ward no.13 have also clarified that the names Amenla and Temsu Imchen are neither active nor primary members in the congress party.
A release issued by Aosanen Longkumer, president, ACCI clarified, after immediate enquiry Temsu Imchen was found to be a government employee and not a party worker, ‘spreading propaganda to distract the mindset of the colony public.’ Requesting colony voters not to take serious note of such articles, the president said, the party general body has selected the right candidate for the forthcoming DMC by-election and appealed the public to co-operate with congress party for over all development of the colony.
KEH supports NSWC
DIMAPUR: Kyong Eloe Hoho (Lotha Women Hoho) has expressed “strong support” to the Nagaland State Women Commission (NSWC) on 33% reservation of seats for women in municipal and town councils.
Stating that amendment of the municipal act 2006 was passed by the Nagaland state assembly, KEH president, Zuchobeni Ezung, and secretary, Amongi Tsanglao in a release said it should be implemented in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, Eloe Hoho has also condemned the frequent harassment meted out to the fairer sex including “gruesome murder” of a house wife by her own husband on August 11 at Kohima and rape and murder of Carmel higher secondary school girl on August 17.
The Women Hoho has demanded responsible authority to award befitting punishment to the “culprits” according to the law of the land.
