AHV to arrive Kma today
KOHIMA: ‘Netaji Rath’ organized by Central committee of the “Azad Hind volunteers (AHV)” from Moirang in Manipur to Delhi will pass through Naga Hills on Wednesday.
As such, Angami students’ Union (ASU) will arrange a goodwill reception for the volunteers on Wednesday in the state capital. The ASU has wished the volunteers success in their endeavor. Meanwhile, the Rath was supposed to arrive Kohima on Tuesday, however, due to some technical problem they could not arrive from Imphal. (Correspondent)
CTC conducts checking
DIMAPUR: Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) August 25 conducted joint surprise checkings on all business establishments over CTC trade licenses, banned items (Burma products) and expired edible goods. CTC chairperson, Neichu-u Koutsu in a release said the checking was successful as many banned items and expired goods were sized.
In this connection, the town council appreciated EAC, Chumukedima and OC Diphupar police station and ward councilors for their cooperation in assisting CTC conduct the raid. The council further cautioned all business establishments that stern action would be initiated against the defaulters as per the provision of the law.
9 families expelled
DIMAPUR: Nine families have been expelled from Kirha village, Airport road Dimapur, during the ‘Check and expel’ programme for selling alcohol and drugs by Kirha Women Society (KWS).
A release issued by the women society stated the families were expelled for not heeding repeated warnings to ban selling of intoxicating substance in the area and the seized IMFL were destroyed in presence of the villagers. The society further warned any person/ outsider found bringing such items for consumption/ sale in the village would be dealt according to the resolution and appealed all law abiding citizens and police to co-operate .
Paphino joins congress
KOHIMA: Ex-MLA and former NPF Press Secretary R. Paphino today joined Congress stating that there was “Change and new direction” under the leadership of K V Pusa, MLA, president Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee.
He said political sagacity and magnanimity of AICC President, Sonia Gandhi in appointing Pusa as NPCC President signifies positive political move. He said fresh initiative has enthused and prompted him to join hands with the new dispensation of the congress party under the ‘dynamic’ leadership of Pusa.
“At the same time I am fully convinced that the blending of the rich political experiences, perseverance and consistent nature of Chingwang Konyak, CLP leader and political acumen and able leadership of K V Pusa will definitely accrue rich political dividend for the party and the people of Nagaland as a whole-a reckoning force to contend with” Paphino said.
The ex-legislator was also parliamentary secretary in the then NPC and later became press secretary in NPF. He was also former NSF president.
