Pangti Village Council (PVC) conducted a joint consultative meeting of various apex committees on August 24 to discuss issues pertaining to the village administration. Besides others, the crucial agenda of the meeting included suppressed measurement of land for assessment of land compensation, submergence of unacquired land and damages of Agri-Forest resources by the NEEPCO DHEP reservoir water and delay in completion of the Chubi bridge construction etc.
Informing this in a release, E. Nmerio Shitiri, chairman PVC said after threadbare deliberation upon all agendas, the meeting reiterated its earlier resolution not to part with any more land to NEEPCO for DHEP, and resolved to vigorously ‘fight tooth & nail’ till justice is delivered.
In this connection, the meeting resolved to erect demarcation Stone at different locations along the original Trace bath dug by NEEPCO in 1988-89 upto which compensation has been received. The demarcation Stone will be erected as per the age old tradition of the Lotha Naga custom in land dealings and the same would be erected in presence of district administration, DBs from nearest administrative office and GBs from neighboring villages as witness.
The council also resolved to issue public notice through print media regarding the land dispute between Pangti village and NEEPCO Ltd, and to claim compensation for damages of agriculture produces, floral & fauna, land erosion etc due to water submergence into unacquired land by the DHEP reservoir during current monsoon.
Keeping in mind that Chubi Bridge will connect two National Highways, NH No. 61 at Alichen and NH No. 39 at Golaghat when commissioned, that would play a vital role in the economy of the people of Mokokchung, Longleng, Zunhuboto and Tuensang District, the meet decided to ‘vigorously’ pursue for early completion of the Chubi bridge.
