Pimla village council (PVC) has clarified that the “unwanted incident” that occurred on August 3, 2016 at Pimla-Jalukie junction in which a resident of Pimla village identified as one Vito, son of Lhotovi, “in an inebriated condition manhandled the driver of a taxi (Tata Sumo) and his wife.”
In a press release, PVC chairman and GB, K. Lughozhe Swu, said on receiving information, he immediately rushed to the spot and gave first aid to both the victims and assured them and co-passengers that action would be taken as per the law and also apologised to them.
Accordingly, PVC chairman said the accused was apprehended at 9pm on the same day and handed over to the Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur with a request that the accused should not be given bail without the consent of the PVC.
Maintaining that the act was committed by a single person and no other person was involved, the village council therefore said “there is no question of any other youths/villagers being involved in the incident.” PVC chairman also said it was “purely an individual to another individual incident and has not tribal color whatsoever.” “Further, to substantiate my statement and for peaceful co-existence between Pimla and neighbouring villages and to curb such unwanted incidences, I have since long, given my contact No. to the people especially to the driver, so that I may be contacted at any given point of time when the need arise,” he said.
Meanwhile, PVC chairman has “once again” apologised to the victims, the co-passengers and the public in general for “unwanted incident”, which, he said, “has not tribal color.”
Western Sumi Hoho: Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has clarified that the “unfortunate” incident on August 3 at Pimla village junction “was not related to any tribal issue whatsoever but was purely an act of some miscreants from Pimla village for their selfish interest.” In a press note, general secretary WSH, Vikato K. Achumi, while “out-rightly condemning the incident,” maintained that the Hoho clarified on the same day of the incident that it was not a tribal issue.
“Pimla village council took up the matter and apprehended the miscreants involved and handed them over to Diphupar Police Station the same evening itself and the same was conveyed to the secretary of Zeliang People Organisation Nagaland on August 4,” WSH informed.
In this regard, WSH requested the concerned organisation(s) to “have proper consultation before issuing any press release so as not to create any misunderstanding and confusion between peace loving tribes/communities and also appeal to the organization(s) not to make a tribal issue out of every stray incident.”
Further, the Hoho extended its prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery to the victims.
Orgs condemn
TUJ: Tenyimi Union Jalukie (TUJ) has strongly condemned the physical assault on two of its members by some miscreant (s) armed with stones near Pimla on August 3.
Condemning the incident TUJ stated the assault was “equivalent as attempt to murder.”
TUJ said the attacker, armed with stone, started attacking the victims- Pf. Abraham and Komuhra , without any provocation while they were on official duty of JNV Jalukie with its principal and staff. Terming the ‘language’ used by the attacker as “disgusting,” TUJ maintained that such “kind of expression incites communalism in our Naga society which is very detrimental in a multi-tribal state.” “The intention of the attacker not even sparing the women who stood up in defence of the driver and hitting her on the mouth with a stone is insane,” TUJ said. In this regard, the union appealed the competent authority to book the culprit and give befitting punishment at the earliest so that such incident would not occur in future.
ANTA Peren Unit: All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Peren Unit also vehemently condemned the physical assault and “attempt to murder” of ANTA members MD. Khan, Pf. Abraham and his wife D. Komuhra.
In a condemnation note, president ANTA Peren Unit, C. H. Lungsibo, stated “attacking the taxi drivers with the feeling of hatred show an act of insanity because the Association always focus to provide valuable service to the public irrespective of tribe, caste or any differences.”
Expressing concern over the security of its members/drivers, the association informed that taxi service from Jalukie to Dimapur would ply via Heningkunglwa-Jharnapani route “till the situation is amicably resolved.”
ANTA Peren Unit further appealed the concern authority to book the culprit at the earliest and award a befitting punishment in order to avoid any untoward incident in the future.
Mao Hohos: Mao Hoho Dimapur and Mao Women Hoho Dimapur in the strongest term condemned the “assault and attempt to murder” of Pf. Abraham and his wife D. Komuhra on August 3 by some miscreant(s) near Pimla village. In a condemnation note, the presidents of Mao Hoho Dimapur and Mao Women Hoho Dimapur termed the incident “very unfortunate” and maintained it “would be unbecoming for any civilized people or community to attempt the lives of others on tribal lines without any provocation.”
Stating that “malicious words vented out by the perpetrators was misleading,” the two Hohos demanded the culprit(s) should tender public apology.
In this regard, the Hohos called upon every right thinking citizen to condemn “such inhuman acts committed upon innocent and just citizens.”
Further, they appealed the concerned authorities for serious inquiry into the matter and award the most befitting punishment according to the law and to deliver justice at the earliest.
ANTA: All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Dimapur unit has condemned the assault and attempt to murder P.F. Abraham and his wife on August 3, by some miscreants near Pimla village.
In a press release, ANTA Dimapur unit president Tohozhe Awomi and general secretary Ahoshe Chophi has appealed the concrn authority to book the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment before the matter turn worst.
