‘Village awareness seminar’ at Kiphire town

A “village awareness seminar” was organized by EAC Longmatra, C. Wangan Phom on March 14 at Deputy Commissioner (DC)’s Conference Hall Kiphire to sensitize about the various schemes and project implemented by the government and also the role and responsibility of village authority at the grass-root level.
In the seminar, EAC Longmatra reminded that leader should not be selfish and greedy but rather sacrifice for the welfare of the public. He reminded the village leaders that there was no separate share and quota for leaders in regards to various government welfare schemes and programs.
He also reminded the village leaders that “there should not be favouritism and nepotism while selecting the members at various committees but to select the person of public choice.”
On various development funds, the EAC reminded the village leaders to maintain accountability and transparency and to conduct social audit every year. 
He also requested the participants to create civic sense among the people at the village and entrusted the students body and church leaders to organize social work every month. 
Further, EAC Longmatra also warned that strict action would be taken against any leader found threatening any official or creating violence in public place in inebriated condition. 
Officials from RD, Forest, Agri and Medical spoke on various schemes and project implemented by the respective departments and BDO Longmatra spoke on the schemes such as GIA, MGF, MNREGA and IAY.
Ranger Forest spoke on the conservation and protection of forest and wildlife and explained about the various sections under Wild Life Protection Act, 1972. Medical Officer, DHK, Dr. Amos Sangtam spoke on the various schemes implemented by the department such as JSY, RNTCP, NVBCP and RPSK. SDAO Kiphire spoke on the schemes such as RKVY, RADP and also about the organic mission that is implemented in the district.
The program was chaired by Sechumla and short speech was delivered by ADC Dr. Tinojungshi Chang and VCC Tutheze village, Athrong Sangtam while vote of thanks was delivered by head DB Longmatra, Mutsodang. More than 80 people from the surrounding villages attended the seminar.
