
A programme on Legal Awareness on Human Trafficking organized by Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) in association with National Commission for Women, New Delhi, was held at Town Hall, Mokokchung on May 30.
According to DIPR report, chairperson, NSCW, Dr. Temsula Ao during the introductory speech said human trafficking was a well organized criminal system which was one of the fastest growing businesses in the world and came in many guises. Dr. Temsula said human trafficking was happening in a different form and has a different shape in Nagaland.
Therefore we cannot tackle it unless we understand, she added.
She said the objective of the awareness programme which was being held in all the districts and sub-divisions was to educate people by spreading awareness so they do not become a victim.
Short speeches were delivered by additional SP Mokokchung, Yarenthung and state trainer & legal aid council, NSLSA Esther K. Aye, welcome address was delivered by president, Watsu Mungdang while member, NSCW, Asangla Cholong chaired the programme.
The programme was attended by officials from Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang, Ward Authority and Watsu unit of all the 18 wards in Mokokchung.
