
Dimapur Longjang Pongen Telongjem (DLPT) celebrated “silver jubilee” under the theme “Mera tasen den kum kum shiba” on Saturday at the residence of treasurer, T.Mar Pongen.
Exhorting the jubilee, T. N. Mannen called upon the gathering to lead reputable life and encouraged the Longjang Pongeners to safeguard and uphold their identity, culture and traditions.
With the celebration of silver jubilee, T.N.Mannen reminded the gathering to remember the founder, late Dr.Chujangmar Pongen who had tirelessly started the union.
T. N. Mannen encouraged the Pongeners to be united and to promote understanding and harmony among the members and also to strengthen relationships with each other.
He challenged the gathering to exhibit unity within the society by eradicating resentment and thereby inspire others to emulate them.
The programme highlighted opening of jubilee by Chumukedima Pongener women, the programme was chaired by DLPT office bearers, while God’s grace and Bible reading was pronounced by Martsuba, jubilee message was delivered by T. Chubakumzuk.
Remembering the pioneers was led by I. Lipok Pongen and short speeches were delivered by Longjang Pongen Telongjem, Mokokchung Longjang Pongen Telongjem, Kohima Longjang Pongen Telongjem, Aoli Pongen Dimapur, Longjangtsur Telongjem Dimapur and Dimapur Longjang senso Telongjem.
Short challenge was delivered by C. Saku Longchar and V. Panger.
Brief report on Pongener clan traditional attire was given by general manager, Nagaland Hotel Ltd, Chubamoang Pongen.
Special songs were presented by Lima Pongen and Ngangshimeren, the spouses of the Pongeners Dimapur and women from Pongen clan Dimapur.
The jubilee was followed by planning committee report and jubilee feast.
