Units appeal NPF president to revoke suspension order

Several NPF units Thursday demanded that its president immediately withdraw suspension order of seven legislators.
NPF Dmu division: Expressing strong displeasure over the suspension of two district party legislators – Zhaleo Rio and Tovihoto Aye, NPF Dimapur division has reminded the central party leadership that the hardship and struggle undergone in electing the representatives democratically should be honoured.
In a press release, NPF Dimapur division president Vihoshe Awomi, vice president Kaghalu Aye and general secretary Hokuto Zhimomi, youth wing president Phyobemo Odyuo and women wing president Vepra Nyekha asserted that wishes of the people and spirit of the party should not be decimated and murdered. The signatories said NPF president’s unilateral and irrational decision, undermined the interest of the divisional level party workers. They said the division was now compelled to support and stand by its legislators of the district who were with the majority headed by  G. Kaito Aye.
NPF 1 Dmu-I AC: NPF division 1 Dimapur-I assembly constituency, following the  suspension its leader Tovihoto Aye, termed the action of NPF president “unconstitutional” as it curtailed the spirit of inner democracy to prevail. In a press release, NPF 1 Dimapur-I unit president L.R.Anthony and vice president Pukhato Achumi said the action was too harsh and unacceptable for a regional party, adding that the constituency and the party men have taken huge pain in electing theri leader to represent the constituency. They appealed to the party president to withdraw the suspension order immediately in the larger interest of the party.
NPF Zbto division: NPF Zunheboto division, at a joint executive meeting January 7, resolved to express resentment over what it described as “autocratic manner of suspending NPF legislators from Zunheboto district without any reason.” The meeting was attended by all CEC members, divisional executives, frontal wings and area unit under.
In a press release, NPF Zbto division president I Nikheto Jimomi and general secretary (adm) P Kiyelu Awomi said that the suspension violated the norms and sanctity of party constitution sixth amandement 2009, wherein as per the Article –XIII clause -1 appendix-d, says that i) warning ii) removal from post, iii) suspension from membership vi) expulsion. However, the signatories said the legislators were contrarily first suspended and then issued show cause notice later on.
They said the division felt that the suspension was “a clear mockery of NPF constitution.” The division resolved to approach responsible authority to pursue the “injustice” committed against eminent regionalist members of the district and revoke the suspension order.
NPF 19 Phek A/C: Taking note of the political development within the party, NPF 19 Phek A/C unit maintained that the step taken by the majority of NPF legislators in choosing a better and more capable leader should not be construed as “anti-party act”. In a press release, NPF 19 Phek A/C unit president Api Vadeo and general secretary Nuchicho Keyho said the party should rather fully support bold decision of the legislators in initiating a change in the state government.
Asserting NPF had in the past given utmost respect and recognition to inner-party democracy while running the affairs of the party, the unit has appealed to the NPF president to withdraw suspension order in the best interest of the party.
NPF Phek women wing: Stating that a movement to change leadership within the party was a democratic exercise and not anti-party activity in any manner, NPF Phek division women wing appealed to the party president to revoke the suspension order against the seven NPF legislators.
In a press release, women wing president Jonelu Sapu described the hurling of accusations at the majority NPF group by others as anti-party. The wing also questioned the alleged move of the president and chief minister to rope in Congress legislators to form coalition government when there was clear cut majority within the NPF party. She said such move was nothing less than committing anti-party activity and was not in tune with the party principal.
The wing further said that taking “disciplinary action” against members without proper consultation with other party members was “way too extreme” as NPF party was not governed by a dictator.
It appealed the party president to reconsider “the harsh decision” issued against the legislators as all of them were “true patriotic sons of the NPF party”.
NPF 29 Jangpetkong A/C: Concerned over the unity and strengthening of NPF in connection with the recent political development, NPF 29 Jangpetkong A/C has appealed to the NPF legislature party and NPF leadership led by Dr. Shürhozelie to allow inner-party democracy and will of the majority of the member to prevail. In a press release, Jangpetkong A/C president I Sashi Jamir and gen. secretary Temjen Aier appealed the president to immediately revoke suspension order of the MLAs elected democratically by the people. “Such drastic and autocratic actions taken by the party president is paramount to weaken the party,” signatories said.
NPF 25 Mongoya A/C: At the emergency meeting on January 5 of NPF 25 Mongoya A/C, the house resolved that it fully approved the move for better and new leadership in the state and that it would stand in support till the end. The unit also resolved that stern action would be taken against any rank and file going against the decision. In a press release, unit president Ojen Jamir and general secretary Imomeren Jamir appealed to the NPF leadership led by Dr. Shürhozelie to immediately withdraw the suspension order of the responsible MLAs as they were not involved in any anti-party activities or were against the party in any manner.
