District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) conducted seminars and sensitization programmes across the state on June 26, commemorating the “International Day of Anti-Drugs and Illicit Trafficking”. The various programmes were held in collaboration with church bodies, schools, NGOs targeting venerable sections of the society.
ZUNHEBOTO: Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA) led by district & session judge and chairman, Zunheboto DLSA, Khesheli Chishi, along with civil judge (jr.) & secretary ZDLSA and para legal volunteer, Atoka Achumi visited the de-addiction centre for drug addicts and alcoholics run by KRIPA Foundation on the outskirts of Zunheboto town and conducted a seminar with the inmates and management of KRIBA Foundation, Zunheboto presenting the benefits and provisions on the central schemes by National Legal Services Authority, a scheme called “legal services to the victims of drug abuse and eradication of drug menace scheme – 2015”.
TUENSANG: Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) in association with DEF and Police Baptist Church, Tuensang commemorated the programme chaired by panel lawyer, Tuensang DLSA, Antimangyang. Resource person was panel lawyer, DLSA Tuensang Cheliam, who introduced the topic on NALSA Schemes-2015, legal services to the victims of drug abuse and eradication of drug menace. Legal Provisions on Narcotic Drugs and illicit trafficking was highlighted by panel lawyer, DLSA Tuensang, Yimtsusangla. A short play was also presented by youth department of Police Baptist Church, Tuensang. Invocation was pronounced by ASI youth advisor, Wangshi and keynotes address by SDPO Tuensang Uniel Kichu, IPS. Benediction was delivered by associated pastor, Youth, Police Baptist Church, Tuensang, Khumchong Stm.
MON: Mon District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) commemorated the day with a sensitization programme for the intermediate Sunday school of KBCM, led by legal aid counsel, Manon Konyak and panel lawyer Dominic Kaiba along with participation from para legal volunteers of Mon DLSA.
MOKOKCHUNG: Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) along with the para legal volunteers Talimoa and Along visited Care Counseling Center with a message that drug abuse, usage, disorders were preventable and treatable. Booklets and leaflets on the agenda of Anti-Drugs and Illicit Trafficking were also distributed.
LONGLENG: Longleng District Legal services Authority (LDLSA) organized a sensitization programme chaired by para legal volunteer, Imlichuba Phom with resource persons, programme manager, Yingli Mission Society, Longleng, Chuje and panel lawyer DLSA, Mane Phom.
DIMAPUR: District & session judge and chairman, Dimapur District Legal services Authority, Dimapur created awareness about the impact of drug abuse and highlighted the legal provision and NALSA scheme 2015 to curb and eradicate the illicit drug abuse and drug traffic, targeted at various churches in Dimapur. Pamphlets on Legal Provisions of Drugs Act were distributed to all the Church congregations. The awareness programme was also extended to Hindi Baptist Church, Burma camp, Dimapur.
PHEK: Programme was organized at Phek town council conference hall sponsored by District Legal Service Authority Phek and organized by Eureka Life Foundation, Phek Town Chakhesang Student Union and Phek Town Youth Society, Phek, where approximately 120 members attended the programme.
Programme was presided by Nuyi Hoshi with an invocation prayer pronounced by associate pastor Ngutsolo PTBC, and the guest speakers were programme manager ELF, Vetsuyo Vero and president PTCSU, Theputo Venuh. Other speakers included senior medical officer, Dr. Azo, pastor PTBC Nusakho, Dr. Chandan Singh 46th Assam Rifle and district session judge, Phek G. H. Ralia. Benediction was pronounced by Moze Neykha.
KIPHIRE: Kiphire District Users Network (KDUN, Survivors and The International Border Area Peoples’ Welfare Organization (IBAPWO) conducted a programme sponsored and supported by IBAPWO and DAPCU and chaired by OST counselor Zesela and welcome address was given by Zelise (CBO). Presentation on present scenario of drug abuse in Kiphire was delivered by program manager, IBAPWO, H. Matthew Chawang. Dr. Holiba A. Anar as chief guest and stressed on the theme saying that “there are two ways of listening, of which listening to one’s inner thought is the first step to change. A small step can make a big change in us and the society at large”. From the law enforcing agency, Khuzah Jurry the SDPO of Kiphire district as special guest shared briefly on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act, 1985. A short speech was given by Tsiatsivi, district program officer (DPO).
KOHIMA: Kohima District Legal Services held the programme with children of vacation Bible School, Jakhama Christian Revival Church with around 105 attendees. Introductory address was given by PVL, Metseilenuo while panel lawyer Keduvi Zhotso as resource person explained about NALSA with the objective of giving awareness to help the victims of drug abuse. Dr. Ayo Thao (obst & gynae) Oking also as resource person spoke on health issues.
Panel lawyer Zekuseto Natso also spoke on child rights. Invocation was pronounced by JCRC pastor, John Zao nd closing remarks was made by panel lawyer, V. Ashu Theyo.
