Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya and chief minister T.R. Zeliang have extended warm greetings to the Rengma community on the occasion of Ngada festival.
Governor in his message, said Ngada is celebrated to mark the end of the agricultural year with feasting, dancing, thanksgiving, merry making, rejoicing and forgiving.
Acharya reminded Rengmas to thank Almighty God for His unceasing love and blessings, and to pray for good health and prosperity as they celebrate in oneness.
He also hoped that the festival would usher in the spirit of unity, reconciliations, forgiveness, peace and harmony among the Rengmas and Nagas.
On the occasion, Governor appealed to all sections to extend gratitude to the “kisans” and pray for their welfare.
“Let us all come together and be a nodal agents to reach the Kisans and involve them in various Central & State welfare project/schemes for the welfare of farmers by reaching out to them & motivating them to go for Kisan Credit Card, Kisan Soil Card, etc. of Central Government Welfare Projects and Jhan Dhan Yojna, etc”, he added.
Acharya also prayed that Almighty God bestow his abundant blessing upon the Rengma community on this auspicious day and Naga society in general.
CM: Zeliang in a statement through media cell said that Ngada, a post-harvest festival was celebrated by Rengma both old and young after the harvest season. It was also a time of thanksgiving and welcoming the much needed break from the yearlong fieldwork, he said.
He further expressed hope that through this festival, the spirit of oneness will continue to prevail among the Rengma community and the celebration will be a peaceful and meaningful.
