Mega medical camps in Nagaland by Rotary Club Mumbai

Under the inspiration of governor of Nagaland P.B. Acharya and initiative from Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Rotary Club of Bombay North under leadership of Dr. Palep has been conducting simultaneous medical camps at five districts of Nagaland with a team of 32 doctors. The districts being covered are Mon, Kohima, Peren, Dimapur and Wokha. Different specialist have been seeing patients and performing surgeries and distributing free medicines.
On day one, average 150 patients were examined and treated at each centre.  A 16 member team of cancer patients and association were also part of the team working at Dimapur.  On November 26 the team had screened more than 150 patients.  At Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung, team of 13 doctors performed surgeries, echocardiograms and ultrasonography on behalf of Friends of Nagaland under the leadership of Dr. Suparna Nirgudkar.
PHEK: Free medical surgery camp held at Phek town on November 26, sponsored by Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation Kohima motivated by the Indian National Fellowship Centre Mumbai and coordinated by the government of Nagaland with deputy commissioner, Phek, Murohu Chotso as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural programme Murohu Chotso thanked and appreciated the good will mission of the doctors for carrying out the camp in Phek which was still lacking adequate medical facilities.
Trustee of the Dr. K&T Keditsu Foundation Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu highlighted the purpose of the camp and also the vision of the foundation. The inaugural programme was chaired by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Phek HQ Tiayanger Jamir, while invocation prayer was pronounced by the pastor of Phek Town Baptist Church and vote of thanks was pronounced by MS, Dr. Denis Hangsing.
Altogether 177 OPD patients registered. Major surgeries done was 9 (Six Laparoscopic appendicectomy, 1 (One) abdominal hysterectomy, 1 (One) Myomectomy and 1 (One) Cholecystectomy). Seven cases of Laparoscopic ligations (permanent family planning) were done. Cervical cancer screening was also done and 18 (Eighteen) samples of Pap smear was taken for the screening. 30 (Thirty) ultrasound screening was also done during the medical camp. A team of specialized doctors from Kohima conducted the surgical camp.
MON: In Mon, a team comprised of  leader Dr. Anjali Patil  oncosurgeon, Dr. Priya Jangam homeopath & nutritionist, Dr. Shradaha Chandak, gynecologist, Dr. Sachin Balkunde pediatrician,  Dr. Neisakho Kere dy. director DH & FW. OPD in Mon started on November 26 and would continue till November 29.
Oncosurgeion, Dr. Anjali Patil said that their main purpose was to build friendship, to see the medical facilities in district hospital Mon and to see the patients in the remote region and give them the specialist medical care, spreading awareness of cancer and how to tackle and what has to be taken to prevent it.  She said many people were diagnosed with Cancer and TB. She also said that consumption of tobacco, taking smoked meat, preserved meat (which has fungus), sitting very close (respiratory problem) were the major causes of cancer and TB in the region.
MOKOKCHUNG: A team of medical doctors from Mumbai with the slogan “ Friends of Nagaland, Mission for the Nation” has been giving free medical check-up at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung (IMDH) from November 26, which would  continue till November 29.
According to DIPR report, the team leader Dr. Leannyei Konyak, deputy director of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, said the free medical camp was being conducted smoothly under the supervision of Dr. P. Medem, MS, IMDH.
The team of doctors comprise of Dr. Rajan Relekar, Dr. Vaibhav Dilip Lone BHMS, Dr. Javed Shaikh Sherali BAMS, Sachin C. Manjrkar DHMS, Manisha Shesware DAMS and accompanied by a local practitioner, Dr. Funitchiba Longchar.
The team has successfully done a major surgery and have also treated and given medicines to scores of patients from in and around Mokokchung town.
WOKHA: In Wokha, the camp is being held at Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital. The team of doctors led by Dr. Sudhir Deshmukh, surgeon (Urologist), Dr. Anant Bijwe surgeon, Dr. Nidhi Khandelwal surgeon, Dr. Prachi Shah psychiatrist, and Dr. Madhura Nene, physician from Rotary Club of Bombay North and Rotary Club of Nariman Point accompanied by Dr. Nyanthung Kikon dy. director H&FW Kohima are providing essential health care services to the people. The inaugural function was chaired by deputy CMO, Dr. Tumchobeni. Short speeches were delivered by Thavaseelan ADC Wokha. Dr. Sudhir Deshmukh on behalf of the visiting team expressed his thankfulness to the government of Nagaland, under the initiative of Nagaland governor, P.B Acharya for the opportunity given to them to serve the people and know the health challenges faced by the people in the region. Medical superintendent, Dr. Robin Lotha felicitated the visiting team and acknowledged the DC Wokha, Wezope Kenye and Thungchanbeni Asst Drug Controller, H&FW for the goodwill gesture shown by arranging the necessary medicines for the camp. Vote of thanks was delivered by SMO, Dr. Wemeri.
