District and Sessions Judge, Dimapur, Neiko Kanuo, on Tuesday has passed conviction order against the accused Vitoka in connection with the rape of a minor girl in Dimapur on December 14, 2011. In a press release, public prosecution H. Kughashe Swu said that the judge pronounced the verdict after considering that the prosecution has proved their case beyond all reasonable doubt. The court observed that the convict person did not deserve leniency, but deserved maximum rigorous punishment to hear the cry of justice. Public prosecution said the accused was found guilty of the offence u/s 376 (2) (f) of IPC and was convicted and sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and to pay a fine of Rs. 2000 and in default of payment to suffer further imprisonment for another two months. The judge also recommended proper relief under section 357-A of Cr.PC to victim minor to rehabilitates as per Victim Compensation, 2012.
