PHED Longleng conducts seminar on hygienic living

With an objective to activate positive behavioral changes among the community including stakeholders with respect to hygienic living, use of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities, one-day seminar on clean India Mission for women organization was held at Yongnyah village under Longleng on Thursday. 
The seminar was organized by DWSM, PHED Longleng division and sponsored by WSSO, PHED Kohima with IEF consultant, Baumei Phom and S&H consultant Akala Jamir as resource persons respectively.
Speaking at the seminar, Baumei Phom stressed on the importance of health and its impact through proper sanitation and other benefits that surged from improved hygiene, proper waste disposal and management. 
She also advocated the participants to recognize the harmful impact of open defecation and take corrective measures through collective effort to keep the village clean through proper solid and liquid waste management practices.  
Also speaking at the seminar, Akala Jamir, emphasized on personal and community hygiene and stated that for social and economic development, proper sanitation along with good hygiene and safe drinking water are essential for good health. She also encouraged the gathering to inculcate good habits like hand washing before and after meal with soap.  She also appeals the participants to conserve water so that future generation may not face the problems of water scarcity
