With the rest of the country, Panchayat Day (Gram Sabha) was observed today at Seluophe village under R.D. Block, Chumukedima.
The programme was attended by Amit Srivastava, National Level Monitor from the ministry of Rural Development, officials of District Rural Development Agency, Dimapur led by project director, Alemla J. Chishi, officials of R.D. Block Chumukedima and village functionaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Srivastava, who also inspected various ongoing and completed projects under MGNREGS in the village, expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the schemes.
Delivering the keynote address, Alemla J. Chishi spoke about the significance of the Panchayat Day besides highlighting the developmental changes that have taken place in the rural areas with the inception of MGNREGA in the country.
She was of the view that people of Seluophe village should be grateful to Neiphiu Rio, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) for adopting the village as a model village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
While reminding villagers that they were privileged, Alemla urged the villagers to work for all round development of the village and be an example for other villages to follow.
Discussion on programme implementation under MGNREGS was also held with the villagers during the day.
K. Yamao Konyak, block development officer, R.D. Block Chumukedima chaired the programme.
Village Council Chairman, Wepfute Chirhah said the invocation prayer while head GB of the village, Pfuneilie Seyie proposed vote of thanks.
