Book on ‘the quaint little village’ released

A book “The quaint little village” stories from Khonoma village authored by Rovi Chasie was released by vice-principal Northfield Hr. Sec. School Kohima, Nini Lungalang as the special guest in a function held at Dr. Setu memorial hall Alder College Kohima on Friday afternoon. 
Lungalang in her address described the book as impressive and refreshing which contained about animals, lovers, trees, picture, only lady who weeps and other interesting features. She stressed the need to preserve “our” culture and local dialects which was disappearing in this modern world. She advised the gathering to teach children the importance of “our cultures and language that starts with the small effort at home”. She congratulated the author for writing the story book and the publishers, PenThrill Publication House for successfully publishing the book.  
Dr. Vizovono Elizabeth in her introductory speech of the book said the “The Quaint little village” was a delightful little book that offered many valuable lessons and contained ten short stories presented through the adventures of the protagonist, a little girl called Tono. Basing on the book Dr. Elizabeth said her adventures were based on incidents and interactions with people during her frequent trips to her native village Khonoma with her family. She said each of the stories depicts an important aspect of cultural beliefs, heritage and wisdom.
Adding, she said in the book there were stories of traditional beliefs and saying, myths and legends, indigenous knowledge system such as that of the pollarded alder trees and use of medicinal plants, the significance of names, dreams and songs and myriad anecdotes of folk wisdom.
Vishü Rita Krocha in her publisher’s note said “we” come from the generation of storytellers but sadly it started dying however, one could find hope with this kind of emerging writers to keep the art of storytelling alive by way of writing. She congratulated the author for writing the beautiful book filled with important stories that needed to be told. Krocha informed that this was the eight publication of PenThrill and looking forward to publish many more stories to promote local literature. She also sought the support of the public by reading the books they published.
The programme was chaired by Levino Yhoshü, invocation prayer said by N. Liegise, special song presented by Seyievino Catherine Chasie, author’s daughter. The author Rovi Chasie also addressed the gathering and spoken poetry by the four felons. Programme was attended by publishers’, author’s family members, writers, well wishers, college faculty members and others.
