NPCC elect members to represent at AICC

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) during its general session held on September 28, 2016 elected AICC members to represent the NPCC.
The following members were elected by the house– K. Therie, K.L. Chishi, I. Imkong, E.T. Ezung, Khutovi Sumi, Lanpha Konyak, Shami Angh, Khriedi Theünuo, Iherie Ndang, Dokiu Kecham, Khegholi Awomi and Asangla Walling
In a statement, NPCC president K. Therie further informed that the house unanimously decided to nominate I. Imkong, former CLP Leader and PCC president, as AICC Working Committee member . Meanwhile, a joint statement issued by K. Therie and AICC secretary, I/c Nagaland, Dr. Jayakumar said, since the local body elections in Nagaland may be announced soon, the Congress party would consider it “as an opportunity to consolidate its position in this election”.
In this regard, Jayakumar said it was “time for our leaders and cadres to expose the ineffective administration in Nagaland”. Alleging that all civic amenities were at its lowest level, Jayakumar said the issues can only be addressed by the elected representatives of the local bodies.
He further appealed to the party’s grassroots level to get in touch with the people, assess their requirements and accordingly prepare for the elections.  NPCC president K. Therie while stating that “this election has a special future for the people of Nagaland”, noted that it would be the litmus test of clean election that had failed in the past.  He said the voters on their own, shall choose between corrupt and God-fearing governance at the level of Municipals/ Town Councils.  Therie asserted that the party “shall offer God-fearing clean candidates for good governance” and offer election manifestoes separately for all Municipal and Town Councils keeping in mind the future and with assurances to deliver.
While stating that Nagaland needed decent and disciplined urban local bodies, Therie asked the party’s rank and file to prepare and fight the elections and appealed to all likeminded citizens for support and co-operation in providing decent and disciplined urban local bodies.
