A.H & Vety holds interactive-cum-sensitisation trg

An interactive-cum-sensitisation training programme under “brucellosis control programme” was held on September 26 at Directorate of A.H & Veterinary Services conference hall. The training was sponsored by Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, New Delhi and jointly organised by ICAR-NIVEDI, Bengaluru and Department of A.H & Veterinary Services, Nagaland.
In a keynote address, principal scientist ICAR-NIVEDI, Dr. Rajeshwari Shome, said that brucellosis prevailed throughout India and that it causes huge economic losses to livestock farmers due to abortion and reduction in milk production in cattle and buffalo. 
The resource persons for sensitisation training were Dr. Rajeshwari Shome and Scientist Dr. M. Nagalingam, both from ICAR, National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (NIVEDI), Bengaluru. 
The programme dealt on the topic bovine brucellosis and national scenario, emerging trends of human brucellosis, brucellosis vaccination policy and surveillances approaches for brucellosis. 
Status report and progress of brucellosis in Nagaland was presented by Ltu Co- Nodal officer Brucellosis Control Programme (B-CP), Dr. Kedozul.
The programme was chaired by Additional Director A.H & Veterinary services, Dr. Viral who urged the participants to adhere strictly to guidelines given by government of India to vaccinate all female calves of 4-8 months old along with active surveillance and proper maintenance of records, while vote of thanks was proposed by Joint Director & Nodal Officer Brucellosis Control Programme, Nagaland, Dr. Tongpangkokba. 
The training was followed by group discussion and a visit to state ELISA lab, FMD lab and ADMAS lab, Kohima. 31 officials from all 11 districts and directorate attended the training.
