A personal experience with cancer treatment

Dr Kunjahari Medhi, is a Medical & Haemato oncologist, Medanta hospital, Gurgaon, 5 star rated in his Google Profile Review. He comes to me as an amiable, family doctor who puts patients at ease immediately on meeting him.
He takes time to personally read & examine minutely all Ultrasound, PET CT scan , Blood, Biopsy tests reports which were conducted from different hospitals, Labs in Nagaland and Delhi.
Before my treatment started, I compared how different doctors examined my reports in Max hospital, Delhi, Medanta hospital, Gurgaon, Amrita hospital Faridabad.. among the 4 top oncologist doctors in Delhi hospitals and also obtained opinions of oncologists from Bengaluru, Apollo hospital ,Chennai and Tata Cancer Research Center, Mumbai.[ after forwarding all my Biopsy, PET CT scan results to them]
Dr Medhi [reputedly one of the Best in his field in Delhi – [ 5 star rated in his Google Profile Review ] examined my results in detail, blood reports, present symptoms, past health history, explained to me about lymphoma types , availability of many modern treatment regime, etc. He appears more structured with his diagnostic approach.
I finally, arrived to an informed decision to opt for treatment with Dr Kunjahari Medhi, of Medanta hospital for the following reasons:

1. The treatment regime which Dr Medhi chose to treat my diagnosis of Low Grade NH Follicular lymphoma Grade 1.
2. The same treatment regime was also recommended by the oncologists from Bengaluru, Apollo, Chennai, Max Delhi hospitals which clinch the decision to opt for Dr Medhi in Medanta hospital, Gurgaon.
3. The Medanta hospital, Gurgaon reputedly offered better state of the art facilities, equipments, nursing health care backup system and a friendly environment with numerous guests houses, fully serviced apartments flats, hotels at reasonable tariffs within a radius of 2 to 4 kms from Medanta hospital, the Medicity, Gurgaon.
4. The best rapport and confidence building attributes of Dr Medhi was his immediate & prompt WhatsApp chat replies to any queries related to the treatment – no matter how busy, he may be ; he always acknowledges messages and replies. 5. Another advantage to the patients/ attendants from the NE states specifically Nagaland – Medanta hospital, Gurgaon has an in house [Mr Kamei -+918826236727] a tribal Executive staff who coordinates all the appointments / tests and personally ensure a flawless experience to both patients and attendant/ families. This was another USP for Medanta hospital where any visitor /attendant/patient would be hopelessly lost in the humongous hospital complex.
6. The work culture, ethics and soft skill power of Medanta hospital management is also flawless and patient/ attendant friendly.
7. Medanta hospital Gurgaon, readily accepts and promotes CM Health Insurance Scheme [CMHIS]. As a pensioner, like me, there may many among both employees & pensioners who initially, harbored hesitation, doubts, apprehension about this CMHIS. Trust me – I have experienced ‘it works’, this policy scheme offers Cash Free treatment- upto 20 Lakhs].
   May God Almighty bless the State Government for coming out with this policy of Health Insurance.
8. Dr Hentok Phom, another gem of a Doctor specialized in nuclear medicine posted in Delhi by Government of Nagaland has excellent networking with Medanta hospital, Gurgaon, is also the Go To for Nagaland patients coming for any kind of treatment to Delhi who was largely responsible for persuading corporate hospitals to accept CMHIS policy. [This was validated by Kikheto Sema, IAS, former Commissioner, Health & Family Welfare Department, GoN, whom I incidentally ran into in T1 Delhi Airport on my return home to Dimapur on 27th May 2025 after my first cycle of chemotherapy & Immunotherapy.]
   Dr Hentok has excellent, impeccable networking and rapport with all top Corporate hospitals empanelled to CMHIS in Delhi. He personally makes person to person appointments and can walk into the chamber of all top doctors over a phone call, which makes hospital visits much congenial hassle free. I can testify as a retired Government of Nagaland officer that State Government has done great service to people of Nagaland to let him continue his posting in Delhi to assist and help Naga patients. No doctor however savvy, competent can today boast of Dr Hentok’s vast networking and soft skill accessibilities. [it will take decades for any replacement to get to where Dr Hentok is today]
   These experiences above are purely personal but , I am sharing with family, friends, well-wishers, Government employees, politicians, public persons – who, like me initially would be unable to assimilate, confused and unable register/digest cancer related diagnosis to make logical informed decision – who, where, and which hospitals or doctors to turn to.
   This article is not intended to undermine the competence, ability, professionalism approach of others doctors in Delhi who are equally good, if not better
   A purely personal opinion and experience I encountered in Medanta hospital, to create awareness to all who may be interested, or in need of information without waiting to discover and re- invent the wheel all over again.
   Personally to me : Dr Kunjahari Medhi,Medical & Haemato oncologist, Medanta hospital, Gurgaon is the Go To Doctor for cancer related treatment/ appointments in Delhi.
   Incidentally, Dr Medhi hails from Dibrugarh, Assam. This makes NE states patients more relaxed and homely, specifically for any naga who may be not very conversant in English to communicate in Nagamese with ease.
   Almighty God is Great, and looks over me. I encountered no side effects (nausea, vomiting, constipation/ diarrhea, appetite loss, weakness, fever, sore throat, etc) which many patients undergoing chemotherapy & Immunotherapy face. A perfect sign of Almighty God’s Mercy and Healing powers over the treatment regime. Please continue to uphold me your prayers.
