It is true that the Nagas are a resilient people. However, our resilience has been manipulated and distorted into various factions and ideologies foreign to the traditional Naga values. We have led ourselves to chaos while pretentiously claiming to stand and fight for the Nagas while some have unabashedly collaborated with the aggressors to bring about a puppet state in Nagaland. In such political chaos among and within the Nagas the truth is being recalibrated to fit the agenda of each faction and/or group. The truth of the Indo-Naga issue has, therefore, been distorted, manipulated, redesigned and tailored to fit and feed the greed of the factional leaders and the puppet state in
Nagaland crafted by the aggressor India. Meanwhile, the gullible Naga public is taken for a ride and is caught in between the horns of a dilemma because of their lack of understanding of the history and truth of the real issue. The mob/public is emotional and as such the so called leaders manipulate the public into a vortex of further chaos and confusion for no fault of the innocent public.
Though the dynamics of reality and time may change, objective truth and facts of history andits legality thereof doesn’t change and continues to shape our reality by not giving way to delusions.
However, recently some people such as SC Jamir, Kitovi Zhimomi and the likes have made asinine statements devoid of any merit or validity. They have given remarks about historical facts of the Nagas such as those of the Memorandum to the Simon Commission 1929, Declaration of Nagaland’s Independence, the Naga Plebiscite 1951 et al. Their remarks calls us to keep aside these facts of the historic past as something that merely happened and move on under India’s occupation. Such important historic milestones of the journey of the Nagas from the shadows of colonialism to decolonisation through divine design and our own God-given free will have been treated as mere trivia of the past. This is a clear manifestation of their frivolous perception of the legacy and legality of the Naga nation. Men of character who calls themselves Naga cannot bear such trivial minds to make such retarded statements devoid of logic and rationality. This regressive narrative and attitude towards a history backed by a legal foundation and a people’s and nation’s mandate is the sheer manifestation of either defeat or evil intent and greed. The Naga nation is not the puppet state in Nagaland created by few in collaboration with the enemy through an agreement called the 16 Point Agreement which was in essence merely a memorandum. SC Jamir is one of those men who has been part and parcel of such few who has perpetrated Indian occupation and division of Nagaland and Nagas, and today Kitovi Zhimomi seem to be parroting the same tune.
The 16 Point Agreement could have been legally binding if the Memorandum to the Simon Commission 1929, the Declaration of Independence on 14th August 1947, the Naga National Plebiscite of 1951 all under the banner of the National institution of the Nagas, the Naga National Council and the establishment of the Naga National government, the Federal Government of Nagaland had been non existent. However, it is a mystery how a few calling themselves as Naga People’s Convention could broker an agreement out of a memorandum without the people’s mandate whom they claim to represent. The mystery goes deeper as to how such an agreement came into being bringing forth a so called state of Nagaland within the Indian union when the very people of Nagaland had declared their independence one day ahead of India being granted independence by her colonial master; the Nagas had even conducted their National Plebiscite of which 99.9% wished to remain independent. The case becomes more sinister when we realise that
Nagaland and the Nagas had an already legally established government, the Federal Government of Nagaland. In such a case the existence of a so called state within the Indian union is legally impossible by any stretch of the imagination. Therefore, SC Jamir, Kitovi Zhimomi and his NSCN faction and the likes are in most probability trying to bury our genuine history to carve a niche for themselves in the name of development: a development that has never brought any progress but rather generated regression of the lowest kind bringing forth corruption, factionalism and degeneracy of the cultural ethos and values of our founding fathers belived in.
While SC Jamir carved out a political career with betrayal of the Nagas and by collaboration with the Indian government’s blessings he has not done anything except dividing the Nagas. Nay, even his political career is not marked by his own merit; he never won any elections as someone from a regional party. He only won after his close collaboration with the Gandhi dynasty and bringing the so called Congress party into the puppet state in Nagaland along with money power and the help of Indian occupational forces and police. Moreover, almost all of the offices he held were by appointment by his political masters who, like him, wanted to bury the history of the Nagas so that Nagas would remain under India’s boots. Mr. Jamir is a favourite for any kind of appoinments to high offices in India. Though he belongs to the Congress party he cuts across the Indian political divide to even be approved and appointed by the BJP. In short, SC Jamir is one hell of a juggernaut of a political prostitute powered by opportunism, greed and a need for control to stay relevant and afloat.
Meanwhile, Kitovi Zhimomi a self styled leader of one of the NSCNs is also beginning to parrot the narrative set in motion by SC Jamir stating that nothing will come about if the Nagas keep sticking to their guns of the historical reality of the Nagas as a sovereign nation. Yes, what he states is true if the Nagas are secessationists but the Nagas are not so by the very fact that they are already a sovereign nation by virtue of having already done what is needed and legal for a nation to exist as a sovereign one.
Kitovi Zhimomi seems to have to have a myopic view of the country of Nagaland. He seems to be of the view that Nagaland consists of only the puppet state that India created by force of arms and blackmail. This view is very visible when one of his sidekicks, C. Singson, on behalf of the so called “Kuki Region” urges people to come under the leadership of Kitovi Zhimomi. If C.
Singson is of this view even while giving reference to the Memorandum to the Simon Commission in his write up, then he is contradicting himself because his master, Kitovi Zhimomi, has urged people to keep aside this fact and move on. Moreover, C. Singson by following such a master is undoing what his forebears had done for the people of the sovereign Naga nation. Besides, C. Singson has clearly stated himself as a part of the “Kuki Region”. Let it be made clear that there is no such “Kuki Region”. Kukis have come to Naga country only by way of British transplantation and immigrantion and as such there is no Kuki Region. Hence, Kukis are guests of the Nagas and are no doubt recognised as a tribe who are living in different regions of the Nagas, especially in Angami and Zeliangrong Regions. They are therefore, represented in the NNC and FGN through the Kuki Tribal Union and not as a region. If C. Singson wants to dismantle what his forebears had done through the legally mandated and established NNC & FGN then he should do so personally and not drag the Kukis into another abyss.
A homeless guest must behave well lest he incurs the wrath of the host and he becomes homeless again.
Now, therefore, be it known that the foundation of the sovereign Federal Republic of Nagaland is legally based on the historic facts of the Memorandum to the Simon Commission of 1929, establishment of the Naga National Council 1946, Declaration of Independence 14th of August 1947, Naga National Plebiscite of 1951 and the establishment of the Federal Government of Nagaland 1956.
Also, hereinafter, by virtue of the Lakhuti Resolution of 1955 any organisation or group claiming to be representing the Nagas are unauthorised and illegal and do not carry the legal responsibility or power to decide for the Naga nation except the Naga National Council.
Hence, all groups or factions including the puppet state in Nagaland are unlawful and illegal entities in so far as the sovereign Naga nation is concerned.
It will, therefore, be wise not to utter nonsense and theatrical rethorics in relation to the Nagas and Nagaland by such groups/factions and individuals related to such groups.
Freedom of expression is one thing but to sell off Nagas with irrelevant narratives is another thing which at all costs must be prevented.
Sovereign Nagaland will continue to exist and the people of Nagaland will not bury the historic achievements that legally set us apart as a nation distinct from our neighbours and will continue to celebrate and live in hope for better things to come.
