AASAA 12-hr KA bandh on Jan 20

All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) has called for a 12-hour Karbi Anglong bandh on January 20 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to protest against handing over of Lahorijan Tea Estate to the defence ministry and “indifferent attitude” of responsible authorities towards the “burning issues of Adivasi community.” In a press release, AASAA president Rajib Soren, chief advisor Anil Toppo and general secretary Elias Tirkey alleged that elected representatives have become “puppets” in the hands of a Naga trying to encroach upon the land of Assam and affirmed that AASAA strongly opposed such moves. AASAA said it appeared KAAC was trying to chase Adivasis from Karbi Anglong as no action has been taken till date on the issue of Hatokajan to Lahorijan.
