
Ato Area Students’ Union (AASU) held its 28th biennial session under the theme, “Change and progress” at Hokhezhe village Dimapur on January 23, with superintendent engineer PWD (R&B), Er. Ahoto Zhimomi as theme speaker.
A press release by AASU session recorder H. Kaboto Kibami stated that, Er. Ahoto Zhimomi urged the people of Ato area to lead on all fronts as they were the pioneers among the western Sumi area.
He exhorted students to know their ability and potential, to do a reality check and progress in whatever field they were good at instead of standing in queue waiting for government jobs. Speaker also called upon students, NGOs and civil society organisations to live in unison rather than live in fragments segregated as Northern-Southern or Eastern-Western Sumi.
Earlier, pastor, Nikhekhu Baptist Church, P. Viyito Zhimo said the invocation, AASU anthem was presented by Nikhekhu youths while AASU constitution was dedicated by first president AASU Isawoto Zhimomi and president AASU H. Hisaka Kibami introduced the dignitaries.
Hd. GB Hokhezhe village, Aaron Suu gave the welcome note, while special song was performed by Nitoli Chishi and TRKMA kids. Pastor, Nihokhu Town Baptist Church Rev. Yehoto Chishi gave the offertory prayer while general secretary AASU Toibo Sumi gave the vote of thanks. Pastor, Ghokuto Baptist Church Vihoshe Tuccu said the benediction.
Programme was attended by Dr. Antoly Suu deputy CMO Dimapur, Vihoto Zhimo rtd. addl. director DoSE, Dr. Vekuto Murru VAS Niuland, Shikavi Zhimomi V/president WSKH, Hozheto Yeptho chairman AAGBA, Rev. Nivito Yeptho AASU anthem composer, Holuvi Aye, Benjamin Assumi, Visheto Sumi, Heto Zhimo, Iloka Zhimo, drafting committee members, GBs, church leaders, AASU advisors and former leaders.
