The Ato Area Students’ Union (AASU) has celebrated its 25 years of inception cum 16th session at Nikhekhu village from January 5 – 7 on the theme “Retrospective generation” with Er. Ghukhuyi Zhimomi, Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control, as the chief guest and Er. Ahoto Zhimomi, Executive Engineer of PWD, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest said jubilee is a celebration of blessings from the Almighty God and also to retrospect one’s own self. On the occasion, he challenged the students to renew their commitment in their quest to acquire education that would make them (students) to be successful citizens of tomorrow. The chief guest also released a souvenir on the occasion.
Also exhorting the students, Er. Ahoto has encouraged the students to be determined and hard-working to be progressive in all aspects. He also unveiled the jubilee monolith.
Director of Airport Authority of India, Dimapur,Mughavi Zhimomi, who was the valedictory guest, said corruption has marred the Naga society and for which he said there is much need of social formation. He was of the view that only students could bring about reformation.
Dr. Anitoly Suu, Senior Medical Officer, Pughoboto, was the speaker of the theme session. Victo Sema, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tuensang, and Atokiho Sumi, president WSSU, also shared words of greeting.
Dr. Vitoyi Rochill, Chairman, AACLF, pronounced dedicatory prayer for jubilee monolith as Nikhekhu Students’ Union performed an opening act during the introductory session.
Antioch Missiology Academy, Alino Awomi and Ghokuto villagers added flavor to the jubilee celebration with presentation of songs.
The three-day session concluded with closing ceremony performed by Hozukhe Students’ Union which was followed cultural extravaganza. More than thousand students from villages under Ato area attended the jubilee celebration cum 16th session.
